Less sensitive oxygen-rich organic peroxides containing geminal hydroperoxy groups.

A series of oxygen-rich organic peroxide compounds each containing two bis(hydroperoxy)methylene groups is described. Energetic testing shows that these compounds are much less sensitive toward impact and friction than existing classes of organic peroxides. The compounds are highly energetic, which may lead to practical peroxide-based explosives.

Rearrangements of organic peroxides and related processes

This review is the first to collate and summarize main data on named and unnamed rearrangement reactions of peroxides. It should be noted, that in the chemistry of peroxides two types of processes are considered under the term rearrangements. These are conventional rearrangements occurring with the retention of the molecular weight and transformations of one of the peroxide moieties after O-O-b...

Magneto-Sensitive Adsorbents Modified by Functional Nitrogen-Containing Groups

In order to obtain amino-functionalized silica materials with magnetic core, one-step synthesis was carried out. Several materials, differ in number and structure of amino groups, were synthesized on the basis of sol-gel method. The synthesized materials were examined by several analytical techniques. The presence and content of amino groups were measured by using Diffuse Reflectance Infrared F...

Rapid Hydrogen Shift Scrambling in Hydroperoxy-Substituted Organic Peroxy Radicals.

Using quantum mechanical calculations, we have investigated hydrogen shift (H-shift) reactions in peroxy radicals derived from the atmospheric oxidation of 1-pentene (CH2═CHCH2CH2CH3) and its monosubstituted derivatives. We investigate the peroxy radicals, HOCH2CH(OO)CR1HCH2CH3, HOCH2CH(OO)CH2CR1HCH3, and HOCH2CH(OO)CH2CH2CR1H2, where the substituent R1 is an alcoholic (OH), a hydroperoxy (OOH)...
